Nothing Like a Door to Make an Adult Feel Dumb

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

So, I’m 30 years old. I know how to use a door.
And so I am walking through the library, approaching the automatic door. I wasn’t breaking stride, but the door was not opening. I stopped short about 6″ from the glass, and it took me 1.5 seconds to decide to push open the door with my hand. But for that 1.5 seconds, I felt dumb, as if the door had outsmarted me by not doing its part.

For Lease

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

I was riding the bus through downtown Milwaukee today, and as usual, every other storefront was vacant.  We then drove past a big open window with a “FOR LEASE” sign, and under it were a few children pressed up against the window.  It made me chuckle to think of leasing your children.  I wish I had a picture, because it would speak louder than
a blog.
